Originally released on 11th September 1995, this iconic album captured the spirit of Britpop at its peak and marked a defining moment in the band’s career. The Great Escape was the follow-up to blur's global breakthrough album Parklife and it charted at no. 1 selling over 125,000 copies in its first week. Featuring the hit singles, Country House (#1), The Universal (#5), Stereotypes (#7) and Charmless Man (#5). It defined mid-’90s Britain, both the optimism and the underlying malaise and ultimately became the record that placed Blur at the heart of one of the most talked-about moments in music history.
